Unaccounted — Privacy Policy

Unaccounted is a personal time-tracking app. This page explains what data it collects, why, and what happens to it.

Data we collect

• Account information: your email address and password, handled by our authentication provider (Supabase Auth). We never store your password ourselves. The one time it passes through our own server is when you delete an email-and-password account: you re-enter it so we can confirm it's really you, and it is used only for that check. (Accounts created with Google confirm deletion by signing in with Google again instead.)
• Sign in with Google (optional): if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from your Google account. We use them only to create your account and sign you in. We do not request access to any other Google data (such as Gmail, contacts or files), and we do not share the information we receive from Google with anyone except our hosting provider, Supabase, which stores it on our behalf.
• Time-tracking data you enter: categories you create, time entries (manual or timer-based), and sleep records you log manually.
• Health Connect sleep data (Android, optional): if you connect Health Connect, we read your sleep session data to automatically fill in nights you haven't logged manually. A manually logged night always takes priority over a synced one.
• Screen time / app usage data (Android, optional): if you grant usage-access permission, we read your daily device usage total and store it. This data is never used to calculate your unaccounted time and is not currently shown anywhere in the app — it is stored for a future feature only.
• Weekly goals: optional per-category weekly time targets you set.

How we use your data

Solely to provide the app's core function: showing you how your time and sleep add up, and comparing it against goals you set. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

AI-generated insight tips (optional, off by default)

Insights detail screens can show a short, AI-composed sentence of qualitative advice alongside your data. This feature is off by default and only runs when you turn it on in Settings.

When turned on, one short summary sentence already written by the app is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate that tip. It can contain figures from your data and the names of categories you created (for example, "You spent 2h 45m on Study, down from 3h 10m last week"). Nothing else is sent: no account details and no other records. Sleep insights never use AI tips, so sleep data (including anything read from Health Connect) is never sent to Google. The app checks each generated sentence and discards any that contains a number, so the tip itself never states a figure. Google's own privacy policy governs how they handle a request sent to their API. Turning this off in Settings stops these requests entirely; the app falls back to a plain, non-AI version of the same tip.

Who we share data with

• Supabase — our database, authentication, and backend hosting provider. They store your data on our behalf and act as our data processor.
• Google (Gemini API) — only if you turn on AI insight tips (see above), and only the single computed sentence described there.
• Sentry — crash and error reporting. When the app crashes or hits an error, a report is sent with the error itself, which screen was open, and your device model and Android version. It does not include your name, email, IP address, account ID, or any of your time, sleep, or screen time data.

We do not share your data with anyone else.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. You can:

• Export your data at any time from Settings (CSV or JSON), covering your categories, time entries, sleep records, and goals.
• Delete your account in-app from Settings. This is permanent and immediate — every record tied to your account is deleted and cannot be recovered.
• Request deletion without the app installed by emailing support@unaccounted.dev from the email address on your account. We will process the request within a reasonable time.

Children

Unaccounted is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
